The fanmade patches for Monkey Island 1+2 do work in ScummVM now.

I don't see how this would be a "fan patch". It's not a change to the game itself, but to how the interpreter renders the UI.

md5 is talking about the fan patches which patch the new voice over into the old datafiles and some other minor stuff.

I'm not sure if I'd actually play that way either, but with widescreen monitors being the de-facto standard, it might be time to find a better solution than either stretching or borders, especially considering that the actual game area already is widescreen in a lot of supported games.
