Arrow Keys on keyboardless devices

Post by SquallStrife »

This applies to any device with no physical keyboard, such as iPhone/iPad, Android phones and tablets, etc.

AGI and early SCI games (the ones I tried were SQ2 and SQ3) are very difficult to play without arrow keys.

There is a note in the wiki for the iPhone version, under controls:
Arrow keys - Without holding any other finger down, swipe your finger quickly across the screen in the direction of the arrow key you want.
But this does precisely nothing. Not in the iPhone version, not in any version.

Can any of the devs shed any light on this?

The arrow key gestures on the iPhone are known to be broken. See http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=de ... tid=418820

OK, thanks for that.

What about other platforms (e.g. Android)? Should that gesture work on those?

Currently each platform has its own set of gestures. Some gestures may be shared between iPhone and Android but there is no guaranty about it. Looking at http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/User_ ... :_Controls and http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Android arrow key gestures are only listed for iPhone. I don't know if there is no gesture on Android for arrow keys or if it is a case where our wiki is not up to date.

OK, I'll ask the question in the Android port forum.

Thanks for your replies! Very clear, helpful, and informative! :)
