ScummVM for GP2X language trans*ati*n

Hello, I have been a long time user of emulators and such, but ever since getting my GP2X, I am a first time user of scummVM. So far, i have "purchased" (freeware etc) a few copies of various lucas arts games from over seas, but they are all in languages other than English. How, if i can, do i translate these into English? Is there a English Patch for these games, or a way to rewrite the files? Please help me and forgive if this topic already exist...a personal email would be great, or if someone could just s**d the f***s that i would need...thanks, JMM

I need translation for the following, and anything else that someone may have:
Day of the Tentacle
Full Throttle
Indiana 1-4
Sam & Max
Monkey Island 1-3
Amazon Queen
Steel Sky
Broken Sword 1-2

PS will summVM run sierra games? better yet, does anyone know if so, will they run on the GP2X?

if asking for translation of software is a violation, wow...lame! besides that point, the very idea of emulation is presumption of infringement, the last time i looked, these fights were all lost in courts and the software forementioned is over the 10yr limit anyways, and if not...excuse me, but if i purchase something, it is my every right to use it as i wish to.

you purchased Lucasarts games as freeware? what 10 year limit?

I'm not sure how to interpret this. In another post you said you "have DL a few copies of various lucas arts games from my file share service". None of the LucasArts games are freeware.

Actually, these games aren't by LucasArts. Last I checked, Broken Sword 1 and 2 were still being sold in stores.

Flight of the Amazon Queen and Beneath a Steel Sky however, can be downloaded, with kind permission of the copyright holders, from the ScummVM downloads page. (The other extras are not complete games.)

I'm a bit puzzled about your question about Beneath a Steel Sky though. I thought there was only one (multi-lingual) version of it.

Doubtful. There are already other project like FreeSCi and Sarien for that. I don't know whether or not they support the GP2X, though.

I'm afraid we can't help you with that, any more than we could if you had asked "I bought this book, but it's in Finnish, could someone please send me a copy of it in English?" or "I bought this game, but it's for the Mac, could someone please send me the PC version?"

Really? Damn, I knew I must be doing something wrong when I went and bought the games when I first got involved with the ScummVM project a couple of years ago.

There is no "10yr limit". Copyrights in the US, which is where most of these games were made, last for "seventy years after the death of an author, or seventy-five to ninety-five years in the case of works of corporate authorship" and while I'm sure we'd all love for LucasArts to release their games sooner than that, or at the very least make them easier to purchase, it is their decision, nor ours.

I'm afraid most of the current ScummVM developers won't even be alive by the time these games enter the public domain on their own. :(

But to get back to the question of translating the games, for most of the older games I believe you'd have to disassemble the game scripts, replace all of the hard-coded texts, and reassemble the scripts again. Some of the newer games store the text messages in external files, which makes it easier. Of course, for a complete translation you would then have to assemble a cast of voice actors to re-record all the spoken lines.

In fact 70 years it is what is set to now. AFAIK, a nickname for the thing is "Mickey Mouse law", as it was pushed forward every time when date approached closely to ([current date] - [date of Walt Disney death]) which took place in 1966.
