Discworld II advice: Don't have more than 47 saved games

Post by AniDisFan »

I'd just like to give some advice for those of you playing Discworld II on SCUMMVM.

I was playing Discworld II, constantly saving.
Then one day, I was about to save, when the game crashed.
I started again, tried to save again, and the game crashed again.
After doing the above a few more times, the game crashing each time, I guessed that the problem was that there were too many saved games for SCUMMVM to handle.

I opened SCUMMVM, selected Discworld II, then clicked the "Load" button to the right.
I noted that the number of saved games I currently had was 48.
I deleted a few saved games, then started the game.
Right after starting, I saved the game, and there was no more crash.
From then on, whenever I saved, I overwrited existing saved games just to be safe.

So if you're playing Discworld II, I have some advice for you:
Don't have more than 47 game saves
When you get up to 47, just overwrite old saved games.

If the game crashes when you're saving, you probably have 48 saved games.
If that happens, do what I did:
1. Start up SCUMMVM and select "Discworld 2" from the menu
2. Click the "Load" button to the right.
3. Delete at least one saved game

Hope this helps.

If anyone wants to correct me, please reply.

You should post a proper bug report about this reproduceable behaviour.

edit: and judging from your very first post on this forum you should probably buy the game first before reporting any bugs
