That's interesting. I've never seen a Maniac Mansion box without the border pattern.

I'm actually old enough to remember that Maniac Mansion box in stores. I think it was about the time that King's Quest 3 and Space Quest 1 came out, but I could be wrong.

I kind of feel the absence of Grim Fandango, since Escape from Monkey Island is in the picture.

i wondered about Grim (but dont have it, and never played it), Escape felt needed to complete the Monkey Island set... altho i've never actually completed it :)

Do yourself a favour and try to hunt down a copy of Grim Fandango and play it (the guys over at ResidualVM now managed to make run good on most modern system). While not Scumm, it's probably one of the best, most imaginative games ever.
Yes the controls are clumsy, but the artwork is beautiful and the story is absolutely brilliant.

And third. I'm currently playing through Grim Fandango for the first time, and I'm sorry I never took the time to do so sooner.
