drascula

Post by akalb »

I want to play without voice but only with italian text

I try to play this game but i have a problem in the beginning of game:
after drascula take the girl in my room and next I try to go outside the village I can see the hut in left map, but it's always not clickable so I can't go in the hut and continue playing it.

I have used the last drascula.dat in windows but the problems is still here

so I download drascula from the web and I can click the hut but the italian translation is not so good (when I talk with the drunk man in the bar my question is always in english and not in italian)

Please help me as soon as possible.

Do you mean the text is in English? Is it only the drunk man, or is it anyone you talk to? I get Italian texts if I select "Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back (DOS/Italian)" when I add the game. (For whatever reason, I can't seem to change the language afterwards. That may be a bug.)

I install the game in italian so only when I talk to the drunk man the texts is in english but the most problem is that I can't select the hut outside the village
Can I translate the text message of the drunk man ?

I've never gotten around to playing Drascula, but when I tried now I had to first talk to the drunkard to find out that someone lives in the hut before it would let me go there. (I hope we're talking about the same hut.)

As for the texts, as I said, when I try to add the game to ScummVM I get a list of suggestions for which version it is. If I select Italian, I get Italian texts. If everyone speaks English, picking the wrong version when adding the game seems like the most likely explanation. If (and that's why I asked) it's only the drunkard who speaks English, it could be a problem with drascula.dat, but I'm not aware of any recent changes there.

And I just remembered that if you are using an outdated version of ScummVM, there was a bug that was fixed in ScummVM 1.1.1 that could be what you're describing.

Just to clarify, the version with which you get text in English when you talk with the drunk man was not downloaded from the ScummVM website (i.e. it was downloaded from another website)?

We know the original Italian translation was not very good and we improved it. So if you got the game with the original translation and not the one with our improved translation that could explain that issue.

As for the other issue where you cannot go in the hut I have no idea. I never had this issue myself but I never played the Italian translation (only the English and French ones). So this might be an issue specific to Italian. Or it could be as eriktorbjorn suggested that you forgot to talk to the drunkard first.

I just tried the Italian version from our website. I can confirm that all the text is in Italian when speaking to the drunk man and then after speaking to the drunk man I could access the hut (and I could not before because it was not clickable on the map).
So it looks like that version works well.

may I ask you what file you download and play from the scumm website

first I download this
Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back, Freeware Version (Spanish, German, French and Italian AddOn) (33.2M)

and next I download this overwriting the duplicated files
Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back, Freeware Version (Updated Spanish, German, French and Italian AddOn) - requires ScummVM 1.3.0 or more (33.2M)

perhaps I have to download this before the 2 steps above
Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back, Freeware Version (English) (31.3M)

Yes, you need the English freeware version and then the updated language AddOn. You don't need to get the older language AddOn. You may want to also get one of the music pack though to get the music ingame.
