I've got a Dell Venue 8 Pro, and using the touch enabled SDL it works pretty well, but I also have the stylus...
Can it be made to work at all?

We don't support any third party SDL builds, so we can't really comment as that is outside our control.
It would be within libSDL to expose the stylus as a mouse device... as I assume the modified "touch-enabled" SDL you are using does.
