ScummVM 1.7.0 "The Neverrelease" is out!

Post by sev »

A year has passed and ScummVM 1.7.0 is here.

With this release we have added support for 5 completely new games. These are:
  • The Neverhood
  • Mortville Manor
  • Voyeur
  • Return to Ringworld
  • Chivalry is Not Dead
Also, we have updated the MT-32 emulator, added an OpenGL backend, improved many aspects of the GUI, enhanced the AGOS engine, made Urban Runner's videos less CPU-demanding, fixed tons of bugs in dozens of SCI games, improved sound in Loom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and improved platform portability for the Tony and Tinsel engines.

But this is not all. We have added experimental support for the OUYA console (we couldn't add GCW-Zero support simply because sev still awaits his console from Kickstarter), made major improvements to the PS2 port and merged the Bada with Tizen ports.

The full list with all changes mentioned can be found in our release notes and the release can be obtained as usual from our downloads page

Everybody Way Oh!

Actually it depends on the browser. On Windows with IE 8 or Firfox 27 and on Debian with Chromium 6 the 4 is correctly crossed out. But on Debian with Iceweasel 11 and on Mac with Safari the 4 is not crossed out and it indeed displays "45 completely new games".
The older April 1st news are correctly crossed out on all those browsers, so maybe there is something not quite right with this news.

Oh yes I can barely see the cross out now, not brilliant clear chaps :)

It seems the problem is that the crossing out neatly fits onto the horizontal bar of the 4. Depending on your font and font size, it might be completely invisible.

Yep totally invisible here on Firefox, unless I highlight the text.

      Two questions:
      - 45 games?
      - Mac OS version is missing...

      Two answers:
      * If you had read the previous messages in this thread, you would see that this is actually 4 (struck out) and replaced with 5 games... An in-joke.

Though we should look at amending the text of the news item to replace this with "4 (oh wait!) 5 games!" or we are going to be answering this query again and again...

      * We know. The OSX builds for v1.7.0 will be available when the OSX porter submits them. Simple as that.

@Lebostein: I've pinged vinterstum re: Mac/iOS builds and got a response back. Hopefully they should be up soon.

Yeah I saw 45 also before realizing 4 was crossed out. ;)

In any case it's great that The Neverhood is now fully supported! I *hope* it's just a matter of weeks/less than 2 months before we finally see a GOG.com release!/b]

For interest's sake: What is the special problem with the Mac port? Last release (1.6.0 ) the Mac users had to wait several weeks for the release... the release of all other ports happened at the same time.

As far as I know this is just a matter of the porter being busy in real life. Building a release package takes a bit of time. And this is not only the case for the Mac port. For this release and this was true for the previous release (1.6.0) as well, several ports were missing on release day. For example for 1.6.0, the Ubuntu, Dingux, Symbian, Fedora, Solaris and Android ports were late as well (if I trust the history of the download page on github).
So be patient and it will be available eventually.

Does this release fix the DreamWeb crashing issue???

      Post by artphotodude »

Have 1.6 for OSX and like many others, DreamWeb crashes at start-up everytime. Does it work correctly in 1.7?? OR was a work-around ever done for it in 1.6??

      Thanks!!
