For the life of me I can't figure out how to save in this game.
I'm using a Xiaomi Mipad which runs off a modified 4.4 kitkat. It's got hardware Home, Previous Apps and Back buttons. You hold down on the previous apps button to bring up Menu (That is, in apps that use a menu) as well.
I am using hackers keyboard (Which has an F5 button), and gamekeypad+ (Which I bound a gamepad key to F5)
Now here's my question, how in the world do I bring up the save menu? The F5 keys are not working for me, and the menu button doesn't seem to do anything for me while I'm in game. The P key works fine to pause though.
I've also tried adding a menu button thru spoofing soft keys and that doesn't seem to work for me either.
I also read somewhere that it might be shift+5. I also tried this and it did nothing for me. I tried it with two keyboards too.

Please go back and read my first post. I already said in my OP that I tried using F5, and that it did nothing. Unless I'm misunderstanding something it seems like this is all the the readme files have to say about this game.digitall wrote:*cough* You could try reading the README file:

What I'm looking for at this point is confirmation that you can bring up the games menu on Android from someone who has recently tested it, I already know this game works on PC.
I did see that... but you asked a direct question i.e. "could someone inform me on how you would normally save in it?"
The instructions here indicate the Menu button:
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Android#Touchscreen
However, I did a quick test with my Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) device which lacks a menu button. I managed to bring up the GMM with load and save options by pressing the Back and Apps Nav buttons at the same time.
See: https://developer.android.com/design/pa ... ility.html for explanation of why this still might not work under Android 4.4+ ...

Thanks for taking the time to test it. I should of been more clear in what I was asking.digitall wrote:I did see that... but you asked a direct question i.e. "could someone inform me on how you would normally save in it?"

Although sadly it seems like it is impossible for me to get the save menu to show up so I'll just have to move on at this point. Back and apps button for me would translate to just hold the apps buttons on my tablet. It brings up the menu normally on apps that have one. This works on every app except scummvm for some reason.
I don't think any of the developers have devices later than Android V4.3 (Jelly Bean) API Level 18 currently.
Later devices shouldn't have issues as Google claims "By design, new versions of the platform are fully backward-compatible." ... However, experience shows that this doesn't appear to be the case, hence recent Pull Requests and discussion regarding maxSDKversion.

A Moto X, but that of course, doesn't matter.digitall wrote:What exact device is yours?
You posted the answer yourself: "Legacy apps on phones with virtual navigation controls".digitall wrote:And how do you bring up the Save/Load menu in BASS?
Well, it does...
He is running a MIUI device and they have made significant changes to the UI code:

Okay... But can you be clear please, so he can follow?
You mean that you get a new icon on the right hand side with some extra options including "ScummVM Open GMM"?

The device is actually important. Since a moto x uses soft keys a menu will appear in the bar.A Moto X, but that of course, doesn't matter.
It seems like the problem has something do with with the device that has hard keys since there no longer is a dedicated menu buttons so you have to rely on a button combination to bring up the menu.
It seems like ScummVM has a problem recognizing my menu button (Which is holding my recent apps button) for some reason. This is so strange is that all other apps I have tested this with recognize the menu except ScummVM
AFAIK there is no way on android what-so-ever to bring up the original BASS menu. Shift + 5 or F5 do not work for me after testing at least 3 onscreen keyboards. And since it isn't recognizing my menu button I can't bring up the ScummVM menu as well so it looks like I'm out of luck!
