Read "Hot Keys" section under the main Toonstruck Menu.
It is "T" to toggle text (subtitles) on and off.

And how I can reach the toonstruck menu to read that? I can only press F5 to save and F6 to restore.

You can use that menu before you start or load a game. (See
screenshot .) I don't know if there's any way of accessing it mid-game.

Lebostein: I think you might have missed my point anyway. The menu item is just text documenting the various hot keys.
To toggle subtitles on and off during the game, use the "t" key. No feedback occurs, but when you trigger a talk with say Flux, you will see that the subtitles or not depending.

It seems that is a bug! The hotkey screen said, that with F1 I can reach the menu screen. But this don't work.

Not a bug on my end. I can access the menu options by hitting F1 just fine
EDIT: Nevermind. I have Toonstruck in Dosbox & ScummVM. I realized when I tested the F1 key, I was using DOSBox. The F1 function isn't working in ScummVM

I added Options menu/font change/turn off subtitle via F1 keypress today.
You will be able to get a daily build tomorrow to have this feature.
