Simon the Sorcerer 2: audio cut-off when subtitles present

Hello everyone, back to the briliant ScummVM after so many years. Searched a bit but couldn't find an answer, here's the issue:

Win32 ScummVM 1.7.0, Simon 2 talkie (Windows CD-eng). When I enable both audio and subtitles, the audio is often cut-off i.e. some sentences will have their final word or words cut/skipped and it'll move forward to the next sentence. Problem doesn't occur when subtitles are disabled. Also tried changing subtitle speed up/down.

You can verify it right in the intro, when the kid says "it's a book by a wizard called Sordid". The word 'Sordid' is not heard and after that the problem will occur several times again. Hope I haven't missed sth simple.

Yes, that's a known issue, a limitation of the engine.
