Hi,
I've been using Secret of the Monkey Island 1990 with talkie modern soundtrack with success for some time.
After ScummVM upgrade from version 1.8.1 to version 2.0.0 it's stopped working.
It prints the following initial log message and then the never ending black window appears:
User picked target 'monkey' (gameid 'monkey')...
Looking for a plugin supporting this gameid... SCUMM [all games]
Starting 'The Secret of Monkey Island'
WARNING: Engine_SCUMM_create: Game data inconsistent with platform override!
WARNING: Engine_SCUMM_create: No unique game candidate found, using first one!
WARNING: Expected MThd or GMD header but found 'SO--' instead!
When I switch the platform from FM-TOWNS to DOS then it works but with original 1990 sound track (not talkie).
In that case the initial console log at game startup looks as follows:
User picked target 'monkey' (gameid 'monkey')...
Looking for a plugin supporting this gameid... SCUMM [all games]
Starting 'The Secret of Monkey Island'
WARNING: Engine_SCUMM_create: No unique game candidate found, using first one!
I launch it under Xubuntu 18.04. I've installed it from a standard distro package.
Do you have any idea what can be wrong ?
thanks in advance

Depending on whether you chose OGG or FLAC compression when you made your talkie edition, check the folder for a subdirectory called "se_music_flac" or "se_music_ogg", and copy/move the files in there up one directory level up to where your installation is.
The currently downloadable installer includes a batch file that only copies track 25 to 29 from the enhanced folder, for some reason.
[Edit] Alternately, set the game's Extra folder to the subdirectory containing the music you want (I haven't tested this myself). I missed that part of the installation instructions myself because I expected the batch file to fix all the music.

Hi,
Great thanks for reply and help to all of you. Unfortunately it didn't help. It still doesn't work with Scummvm 2.0.0.
I've already set the "Paths->Extra Path" option to point to se_music_flac subfolder and it works perfectly in Scummvm 1.8.1.
The Scummvm 2.0.0 fails to start regardless of "Path->Extra Path" option. I've also moved all *.flac files into installation directory but it also didn't help.
I remove and add the game to Scummvm every time I modify the directory contents.
The game file listing is below. In fact I have 2 subdirectories with flac files. I've tried the above steps for both sub directories - with no luck.

Doesn't match my files either, looks like you have a few extra files that might confuse ScummVM. Did you create this installation with an older version of the Talkie? (Current version is v1.02) My recent installation has only 3 files + the 29 audio tracks:porparek wrote:Hi,

Check if these file sizes match yours, and try removing the other files. If that doesn't help, or your files are different, I'd suggest re-creating the Talkie from fresh, without merging the resulting folder with any extraneous files.
Yes, you are right. I've removed the redundant files. Now I have only 3 of them as you suggested and it works.
Unfortunately I don't remember the version of the installer and where I got it from.
It looks like I did not follow the instructions correctly.
Great thanks to all of you for your time and help.
