SCI stereo AdLib/OPL music

Post by thethreeheadedmonkey »

Is there a way to turn off the stereo FM music in early Sierra SCI games?

As far as I know, the MediaVision Pro Audio Spectrum's release was in 1991, and Sierra only started to support it (and thus stereo FM music) in later SCI1 titles like Leisure Suit Larry 5.

It does sound nice, but isn't it a bit anachronistic for any SCI game released before 1991?

IIRC there is an OPL driver out there for earlier SCI versions that utilizes more polyphony and reads the panning information. So it is possible in DOS too. Nevertheless, maybe it should be an optional toggle to utilize it for earlier games (off by default)?
