2.1 stretch mode vs. 2.0 better scaler

Post by rotchild »

First of all I have to say how GLAD I am that you guys finally implemented the "stretch mode" option/feature... :D

So, my current issue is that I'm playing on a 4K TV, with the default (3840x2160) resolution... If I don't activate the "stretch to window" mode, I get those "annoying" black bars to the sides of my TV. So this is a really welcome feature.

Problem is, 2.1 build doesn't have (arguably) the best scaler out there: zenju's xBRZ scaler.

So when trying his latest version is 2.0, the version doesn't have the "stretch to window" mode. :( Which gives me a certain impasse. I guess I have 2 questions then:

- Can I "force" 2.1 to run the xBRZ scaler somehow?

OR

- Can I maybe use a "command line" (or "force") 2.0 to "stretch to window" so I don't have the annoying "black bars"?

I have no idea on how to proceed... please help :(

xBRZ is not available in ScummVM currently. There are some unofficial builds with it added, but these are not portable code and slightly hacked in. See:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14493&hilit=xBRZ&start=15

We are open to Pull Request of _portable_ patches for this scaler...

Well, from what I could understand based on the posts in the topic you linked, it seems that there's no way to implement the xBRZ code as it is, without hacking OR re-writing it. Sorry, I"ve no idea what a "pull request" is...

So to my other question: is it possible to "force" the "stretch mode" on older verions (2.0)? I say this, but I've no idea when the option have been officially implemented in ScummVM (I was guessing 2.1)...

rotchild: After several PMs in violations of the forum rules, I am going to say this publically.

Unless you are a very capable C++ programmer, you are not going to be able to add xBRZ to the project. It needs a fair amount of work.
The current PoC version was very hacked in and only builds on Windows due to dependencies and thus will not be merged.

Please do not continue to harrass me or other developers with this unless you are willing to do this work yourself and are capable.

Several? I sent you a couple of PM's. And I'm sorry if it was violating the forum rules, had no idea. Also, you deleted one of the replies before I could read it. Probably this message right here.

Don't worry. If I knew before that support here was the way it is, I would've never inquired about it.
