Of course. It requires about 1GHz of raw CPU power.

Some games crashed at launch for me. Discworld games and Amazon Queen, for instance.

Is there any way to map any button to (.), to be able to skip dialogue in Lucas Arts games?

Yes. This option was added to nightly builds back in March. You need to go into per game settings from the main GUI screen. It works great!
