Day of the Tentacle - MT-32/CM-32L

Post by SubElement »

Hey,

I can't seem to get DotT to work with MT-32 or CM-32L using the MT-32 Emulator in ScummVM.

It's working for other games. Am I missing a certain setting, or perhaps a specific version of the game. Using the Windows CD version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Running on Windows 10 on ScummVM 2.1.2

Works for me, just checked. Just selected MT-32 as the audio device.

Thank you for checking.

I can't help think I'm missing something somehow. Is there a special version of the game I should be using? Is there something else I should be doing to setup MT-32?

No matter what I do the game seems to be just normal midi, but as I said in my original post MT-32 seems to be working with other games.

What do you mean by "can't get it working"? What happens? Silent audio or the game doesn't launch at all? There are only three versions of DOTT: DOS floppy, DOS CD, and the multi-platform remaster. The first two both support MT-32 and the latter isn't going to work in ScummVM at all.

Apologies for being vague.

The game runs seemingly fine, but when I compare the music output to videos I've seen online of the game outputting in MT-32 they sound drastically different, hence why I believe MT-32 is not being enabled.

1.
When you start the game, look in the console.
In my case, starting DOTT with MT32 emulator, it prints:

Code: Select all

MT32: Using 10 chunks, chunk size: 480 frames, buffer size: 4800 frames.
MT32: LCD-Message: ScummVM 2.1.1a
Do you see something similar as well?

2.
Try to compare DOTT output to the output in Dosbox with MT32, not to videos in Youtube.
Maybe the youtuber has applied some audio manipulation.

This was exactly the issue!

Gosh sorry, I'm such an idiot for missing that.

Thank you everyone for your help though! :)
