kings quest 7 german version no midi music

i have the game testet on dosbox and scummvm. on dosbox i have midi music but under scummvm there is no midi music. i have tetet the english version of the game, and the music is working. english version is 2.0b and the german version is 1.51. i tried everything, but no look with midi music on the german version. tested on win10 and retropie.

Hi.

1.
Have you verified the English KQ7, after you've seen the problem in the German KQ7?
Maybe there is some configuration problem, and now both don't work.

2.
Please copy the messages from your ScummVM console.

3.
Please upload the scummvm.ini , or if you prefer, screenshots of the general "Options..." menu, "Audio", "MIDI" and "MT-32" tabs; and the same tabs of KQ7 "Edit Game..." menu.

1.

i can switch with the same settings the english and the german version. everytime i start the english version, the midi music is working. and with the german version not.

Well, I don't know yet what's the source of your problem.

However, you're using MT32 as your Midi device.
But KQ7 should sound better with a GM device (see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... uter_games)

I'd recommend you to try using a GM device (e.g. fluidsynth) for the English KQ7. I assume you will notice that it sounds better.
Then, try it for the German KQ7.
Who knows, maybe it will work :-)

it doesn't matter. also tried it. english version have always midi music and the german version dont.

Does any sound configuration works for German?
Adlib? Something else?

except the midi music, all is working normal. it doesnt matter what device i use.

3. (EDIT)
When I try it with MT-32, I get a warning in console:
WARNING: This game only supports General MIDI, but a non-GM device has been selected. Some music may be wrong or missing!
(and the music does play)

Strange, that you don't get it in your console. I have checked now, and this warning is in the code from 2017.
So, either you're using a very old ScummVM version (and please, try with the latest and greatest, as I wrote above); or something else is weird here...

2. tried already. normaly i use the 2.1.2 version

ps. i mean the ingame midi music. not the sierra intro or kq intro. there i have also music. i mean, right direct when the game can be played.

when i go right direction and the into the cave, the scopion is coming and the i get this in the log:

i tried now with fluidsynth as audiodevice and the soundfont from fatboy. the music is now there.

yes. with mt32 and the german version not (english version works) but with fluidsynth and a soundfont it works now.

Well, I'm not sure it's worth further investigation, if you have satisfactory solution.

After all, KQ7 should sound worse with MT32.
I'm not even sure it works in Dosbox with MT32 (have you checked it in Dosbox using a GM device, or MT32)?
