How to install TLJ Gog version on linux?

Post by Paolo86 »

Good evening/morning gentlemen!

I've been meaning to try out The Longest Journey with the Hd Mod on Scummvm, following the merger.
The One and Only problem is... I have no idea how to unpack the data files from the gog installer on a Manjaro Linux environment!

Can anyone please lend a hand?
Thanks.

While I haven't tried it with TLJ specifically (Ialready had an unpacked GOG installation on a Windows partition lying around) and I don't use Manjaro, usually
Wine works for GOG Windows installers (untick the launch game after install), then just copy the unpacked files into whatever directory you like and point a recent ScummVM build at the directory.

I haven't checked it myself, but maybe https://github.com/dscharrer/innoextract could help.

I used innoextract on GoG installers in the past, and I can confirm it works. Technically, the GoG installers are nothing more than fancy Inno Setup installers with a little bit of web and showroom glue :-)

Thanks for the info about innoextract, didn't even know about this but realized I even already had it installed on my Ubuntu machine for some reason, it works for GOG just fine, definitely easier and quicker than the Wine route :)
