According to feedback on the tracker this version should already be supported - the exe file was just missing. I've updated the wiki entry for the lba datafiles to also mention the executables.

It doesn't need all *.exe files though, does it? (On my CD, that would be dos4gw.exe, install.exe, lba.exe and loadpats.exe.)

No, you don't need those files.

Only the game executable file is required: LBA.EXE, LBA2.EXE or RELENT.EXE for the US version LBAJ.EXE for the Japanese version

That's what I figured, but the Wiki currently says "*.exe".
