It is possible, but one thing that would be off is the Control screen which determines where Ego can walk. In that particular screen, there are two small bushes in the foreground. In the original version of KQ4 you obviously cannot walk through them. If you were to replace that screen in the latest version with this one you would be able to walk through them as there is no Control screen replacement functionality. It was left out because the game won't care what resolution a replacement Control screen would be in because it's all script-based logic, not visual. Another thing I would like to add to the wish bucket is the amiga environmental sounds for the dos version. One guy has already gotten this working with a fan patch so technically it could be done.

Since there are special editions of monkey island... the improvement is already done, just extract the backgrounds. Could it be implemented the monkey island support in scummvmx?

To be completely honest they did a terrible job at recreating the backgrounds for Monkey 1 and 2. They just applied a smoothing filter over everything and then sloppily painted over the backgrounds in Photoshop in an attempt to put some of the details back in (you can literally see the brush strokes in some backgrounds cause they didn't bother finishing them), but the end result still looks less detailed and the style doesn't really fit the games in my opinion. I agree and hope that some fan made remaster will be better than that. But I can live with the official remastered versions and would prefer MI3 HR first. Also MI4 HR would be nice. I liked MI1-3 more, but still would like to play MI4 with better graphics. There is 3D in this game, so HiRes support may be more difficult to implement, but it was possible with The Longest Journey too: https://tljhd.github.io/

I'm sure Monkey Island-series has more than enough fans who would be willing to go and re-draw the backgrounds if just given the change of actually implementing them to the game.
