Hello guys, I'm a collector from Portugal and I love collecting and re-discovering games made in my country.
I have with me an original copy of a game called "As Aventuras da Peregrinação" that is a point n' click adventure released in 1997 subsidized by the portuguese government about "Pilgrimage" by Fernão Mendes Pinto, a work from 1614 about the period of "Discoveries" in Portugal.
Posting about this on a Facebook Group, several people suggested that I should try and see if it was possible to have it in ScummVM. We would have to contact the authors and I'm willing to do that, but I just have to know first if there's a real chance of making this happen.
Btw, I only have screenshots as I'm having trouble emulating this on a virtual machine.

Another game it might be interesting to try and add is "Viagem de Bartolomeu Dias", on an engine called Prometeu that was developed with the support of our Ministry of Education back in 1994 and distributed to schools all over the country. The idea was to have an easy to use engine for the creation of educational graphic adventures, but unfortunately I think only one game ever used it.
I have both the software (with the project file of the game) and the game itself.
I haven't contacted directly the authors yet, but I know someone who has and they seem to be very accessible.
Here is a gameplay video:

So, is there any interest in adding these games? Is it doable?
Should I try and contact the authors?
If any of the developers wants to have a look at the games, I'm more than happy to share them privately.
Adding some obscure games to ScummVM?

If there is access to the sources, then it is possible.

I would be more happy, if developers spent their valuable time on something else than obscure Portuguese games in Portuguese only about history of Portuguese colonization. These games have a government propaganda purpose and if government sponsored them, they should finance a port as well.

I second this.Mim wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 11:14 am I would be more happy, if developers spent their valuable time on something else than obscure Portuguese games in Portuguese only about history of Portuguese colonization. It doesn't work like this though. It all depends on what developers are interested to work on; and if a developer is interested in working on some obscure portuguese government propaganda games, then we are not going to tell him that he should instead work on another game he has no interest in. Although I don't expect many developers to be particularly interested in working on an obscure game available in Portuguese only anyway (unless it somehow uses an engine we are already working on).vanfanel wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 10:26 amI second this.Mim wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 11:14 am I would be more happy, if developers spent their valuable time on something else than obscure Portuguese games in Portuguese only about history of Portuguese colonization. @criezy: I agree, yes. The most important part in free software development is having fun.
Each developer should work ONLY on what he/she enjoys, and no one can dictate that.

I agree too. It is just my wish, but developers may do something else if they wish, of course.
