ScummVM 2.5 crashing on startup

Hi,
I have windows 7 32 bit. ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card
I installed "scummvm-2.5.0-win32.exe"
Scummvm crashes on startup.

Last night I installed an update and Scummvm crashing. I did not have this problem before installing the update.

Currently setting up a Win 7 VM to replicate, but at the first glance, I suspect a broken OpenGL driver on your end. Trying to upgrade your graphics driver could be a good first action. Are other OpenGL applications affected as well?

Could you please edit your scummvm.ini file and add

Code: Select all

gfx_mode=surfacesdl

to the

Code: Select all

[scummvm]

section?

UPDATE: Can't replicate on a clean Windows 7, 32 Bit installation.

The scummvm.ini file is (typically) not in your scummvm folder.

I uninstalled Scummvm...
I deleted "AppData/Roaming/Scummvm" folder...
I installed "scummvm-2.5.0-win32.exe"
I have this:

This is not correct. I tested with an older laptop featuring an integrated ATI graphics chip and it works flawlessly.

Scummvm-2.5.0 was working perfectly until Saturday... No problem.
I launched Scummvm on Saturday. Scummvm displays an update. I click on "Yes"... Scummvm crashes now.
Yesterday I made an update of the graphics card driver. Scummvm worked, but the screen resolution had changed (1024x768). My screen resolution is 1280x720. I reset the resolution to 1280x720 and Scummvm no longer works. The drivers are up to date.

PS:
I edited "scummvm.ini" file and added these lines:
[scummvm]
gfx_mode = surfacesdl

I'm afraid this is an issue with your system and not an issue within ScummVM.

Even the current version 2.5.0 works perfectly fine when setting the resolution to 1280x720 - I just tested it again in my VM, and no matter whether I use OpenGL or Surface SDL rendering, I can't replicate the issue you describe.

Well - there was no update on Saturday. If you installed the update on Saturday, this means that you were running ScummVM 2.2.0 before. Since the updater is tied to the version number, it's not possible that a 2.5.0 installation will prompt for an update to 2.5.0. And if so, it would simply re-install the exact same version without modifying any settings.

Sorry, at this point, I think we simply have to say your system is (for whatever reason) either not compatible with ScummVM 2.5.0 or has some other issues. But I can't really say more until you test more OpenGL applications.
