That's a good idea, I thought a lot about that a few months ago, but I'm currently busy with another project. But if I have some free time, "I'll give it a try".
Wow. I did write DOS backend some time ago using DJGPP and allegro lib and it actually worked pretty well, but I deleted all the source codes by accident.
Think I should make backups frequently.

Are you considering to developing it again someday? What about a bounty for it?
I will get an old machine for DOS stuff, and I will put certain audio hardware for testing. ScummVM for DOS could be quite interesting for my retrogaming experiments
I am not sure you would want to run ScummVm on an "old machine", unless it's not that old after all. It takes a lot of resources, even if run under DOS.

What about from a Pentium 100 to a Pentium II 300? That range seems the most usual DOS configuration for retrogamers as I readed from VOGONS, and more likely the last one...
Are there some aproximatelly hardware requirements list per architecture?
