Problem is, that's online. I was checking the info in the download itself.

Sorry.

Re: Game Demos required - Putt Putt Joins The Circus English Demo

Post by joma »

I noticed the English demo for Putt Putt Joins The Circus is not on the site yet.
My copy of Spy Fox Hold the Mustard has this demo on it.
Uploaded it to Onedrive: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjhRpkIYZKWEgaJe7dU ... g?e=uz5QNr

Hope this is useful and can be added to the list of demos!

Thank you. However it turns out we already had this demo (it can be found when browsing directly the files on https://downloads.scummvm.org/frs/demos/scumm/he/) but it is indeed missing from the website (https://www.scummvm.org/demos/). I will make sure this gets updated.

Looks like this is true for the MADS demos as well. I see several files in the directory, but none on the website.

Also, the Rex Nebular demo isn't detected in 2.5.1, but is detected in a 2.6 daily build from June 13. It's not working yet, so maybe that would exclude it from the webpage.

2.5.1 message with demo:
Matched game IDs for the mads engine: nebular
{"section1.hag", 0, "ead7ea63459173c32569feecac608c4f", 192065},

Edit: I'll go ahead and submit a bug report.
Edit #2: Done -> 13657
Edit #3: Fun fact - The playable demo was released 30 years ago last week (June 27, 1992)

There is a somewhat hard-to-find demo for The Samaritan Paradox. Most stores that sell the game don't have the demo, but it's available on the publisher's (Screen7) site:

http://www.screen7.co.uk/games/download ... x_Demo.exe

And for those that are interested in studying how games change during the development, there's also a prototype demo that the developer released during development. The user interface is different and so on:

https://download.cnet.com/The-Samaritan ... 47236.html

EDIT: It turns out the previous prototype link was wrong. The updated link should be a correct link for the prototype.

Nice!

For the Mac demo, you may do two steps: 1. Dump it into ISO 2. Use ScummVM Dumper Companion: https://www.scummvm.org/dumper-companion/

I mentioned it on the bug tracker, but I guess I should've repeated it here too. I got the error "RangeError: Structure larger than remaining buffer" so it didn't work.

It did read when I mounted it with my file manager, but of course the files got mangled...

I noticed that the Demos page has barely any non-english demos available. Is there any rule regarding this? Or are all language demos welcome?

Out of 647 demos in the list, at least 117 are non-English. Are you sure it is "barely any"?
