It's sad, but it clearly shows that you did not read our forum rules. Forum rule #3a explicitely mentions bugtracker. But it's never too late to study them 8)

And because I'm nice I'll mirror it as well =)

Which was why I reported this in the first place.

Hang on - a lot of that is Abandonware, y'know, proper illegal Abandonware. Like DOOM is still being sold on shelves.

EDIT: So my server dies. Have it up soon...

From Revolution (the makers of BASS):
In August 2003, BASS was made available for free download and is now classed as freeware. The sources and resource files are available from http://www.scummvm.org

I filed a bug report, since no one else seemed willing to do it.

I think a few people who constantly post lately neevr bother to actually read anything - they just catch a glance and then make kneejerk comments.

That so called illegal copy of doom on the site you linked to is Doom95, a freeware port made by Microsoft to advertise directX.

Between the bugtracker comments, the cry of abandonware, and various other statements I've read, I highly suggest that a few peopel take the time to figure out what the hell they are talking about before they come on here and waste everyones time.

let me add some "kneejerk comments":

making a caption that cries "Abandonware" on a website with free downloads looks fishy, so you might have to excuse people for not checking each and every game on there for its legality

Betrayal at Krondor is offered for download; it used to be freeware, but apparently that was retracted (see http://www.liberatedgames.com/forums/in ... sg&goto=15 )

oh, and the full Doom download apparently is the shareware version (at least according to the README.TXT in the archive) (advertised as "full game") to my knowledge the level data of the full Doom game has never been made freeware (see also http://liberatedgames.com/game.php?game_id=9 )

oh, and the paragraph "Wolfenstein3D original shareware version - The precursor to Doom and Quake! The first true 3DFPS-game for PC!! Full game!" contradicts itself

so yes, maybe the things on the page are probably legal (not sure about krondor), but the representation just begs for criticism

I agree with you Clem, I'm not saying the site itself is totally legit.

I'm saying the examples used were bad. I know I didn't name names or anything when posting this, but I assure you, you weren't the target.

Doom95 was freeware however - take a look at the wikipedia entry on it.

Oh, and I hate to say it - but your comments weren't knee jerk at all, lol. they actually had substance to them. A comment like say...., 'Bugtracker - whats bugtracker???" That is MUCH more knee jerk ;).

as of right now, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_95 (Redirected from Doom 95) mentions that Doom 95 exists, however a licence is nowhere mentioned (in fact "free" doesn't come up on the whole page apart from the category "Commercial video games with freely available source-code")
