How to convert Broken Sword videos by my own?

hi,
i'm trying to convert broken sword 2 original videos (.smk) into mp2 files. radtools is useful to convert them into avi. but now i don't know how to go on: i don't know how to use mencoder (i have windows xp and when i try to open mencoder for windows it crashes immediately). Is there another way to have high-quality mp2 videos? can scummvm support other extensions?

The development version of ScummVM supports DXA movies (same as we use for The Feeble Files) for the Broken Sword agmes, but 0.9.x doesn't.

Also, the development version of encode_dxa produces smaller files than the stable one, but since they use an alternative compression method they're also incompatible with 0.9.x
