Perhaps, if it's not too much trouble, you could download one of the freeware games from the ScummVM download page (http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/#extras), extract the required datafiles from the zip file and see if it works properly. I recommend Beneath a Steel Sky or Flight of the Amazon Queen, but if you just want a quick, small download then Lure of the Temptress will be fine. (I also see that a floppy version of Beneath a Steel Sky is available which is only 7.3Mb, but has no speech.)

Remember to also download SKY.CPT from that page if you choose Beneath a Steel Sky.

Strange. I thought it was enough that you have comi.la0 in the folder you point ScummVM to for it to detect the game. (It's not enough to actually play it, of course.)

I just copied the comi folder and installed Scumm on a laptop with Windows 7 and it works perfect. So it's just on my laptop that doesn't seem to work!
