The old version of KQ4 is AGI - not SCI, unless there are two SCI versions (and the original AGI)?

I actually own the AGI version of it (retail release), which is supposedly quite rare. I'm am not aware however of two different SCI releases.

King's Quest IV was released on two different versions of SCI.

And the nighttime scenes, instead of pasting a separate night sky background on the day backgrounds, has completely different picture resources for the night time screens. V1.000.111's graphics are more reminiscent of the AGI style of artwork regarding depth and shading. Here's a few comparisons:

Game: Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra (CD/DOS/English)
Game Version: VGA CD v1.1
ScummVM Version: 1.2.0svn52134
OS: Win32 (XP SP2)

Completable. Bug 3047418.

Found something that is not exactly a bug, more of a feature - If the player tries to use the "About" credits option in the furnace room near the end, a voice-over says: "There is not enough memory available right now to show the About screen". :)

It's even worse. Currently there are a total a 6 different versions of KQ4 known. 3 of them are SCI0EARLY (hence kq4 early) and 3 of them are SCI0LATE (hence kq4 late).

But there are only 3 major changes between them (AGI, and the two SCI versions with different graphics).

EDIT: I notice on that list that Mixed Up Fairy Tales EGA is in the "Possible Entries" list. I have this game so I know that it exists. As does Longbow EGA and Castle of Dr Brain EGA. Is that just an oversight?

Wow... that is very interesting. I do find it odd however that the old version, 1.000.111 looks much better to me the the new version, 1.006.004.

I must own the old version, as I have never seen those backgrounds colored as you have shown them.

Due to this thread I just became aware of the fact that I also own the LSL1 remake in EGA, rather then VGA. Also realized my disk copy of KQ5 is EGA (I always play my CD copy, so I had never noticed the disks where different specs). And here I thought I knew so much =)

That sierra-8bit-co-uk linked txt file (Based on 'this document'. Used with permission.) on the wiki page I can't seem to reach. Maybe it's down.
I assume the wiki includes everything from it anyway?

Game: Quest for Glory 4
Game Version: DOS/English
ScummVM Version: 1.2.0svn52199
OS: WinXP SP3 32-bit]
Problems:
I guess they mostly relate to the fact that QFG4 is SCI2.1! The game starts fine, but the lack of kRemapColors and incomplete text bitmap support (as mentioned on the SCI/TODO wiki page) does make it look awful in places. With "Autosave" turned on, I can't even leave the first room. It throws me this error in the debug console:

[VM] kSaveGame[36]: signature mismatch via method Game::save (script 64994, room 720, localCall 0xffffffff)!

and then when I exit the console, ScummVM closes. With autosave off, I can continue playing (obviously until I try to save) but I didn't try to go much further to be honest.

Yeah, there's a reason QFG4 is not on the list of games to test. SCI2.1 support is, as the wiki says, basically non-existent.

My copy of Police Quest III EGA now runs on svn52218. I'll be playing through it and showing my results.

Game: Mixed-Up Mother Goose VGA CD (SCI1)
Game Version: CD/DOS/English
ScummVM Version: 1.2.0svn52224
OS: Win32 (XP SP2)

UPDATE: Still not completable, even with bug 3049146 fixed. It's randomly crashing and locking all over the place, usually with "kCan(t)BeHere - invalid rect" messages.
