Thanks. I would love to see what you come up with.

I have not been able to work on it these past couple of months, the only scene that I have really worked on is the cafe. here is how it looks now.

I still haven't been able to match it completely to the original and i also have been struggling with the texturing.

that being said I have imported the hires background in the game and it feels really good playing in 1080p and widescreen. I had planned on making a video with of the game running with the backgrounds once i was happy with them, but i don't know when I'll get the time to finish them.

Thanks for the reply.
I really enjoy seeing the Calavera Caf├® in this highres glory. The added details seems pretty spot on too. But yes, perfectionism is what makes it look and feel the same way it did back in the days.

Can I ask you what software and renderer you have used?

My LSA can be seen here: http://www.grim-fandango.com/fan_art.ph ... lery&id=31
I almost can't believe it, it was done 12 years ago... time really flies.
It was never as accurate as it should and there are also missing assets too.

I was fiddling around with the Unreal Engine 4 for some time now, but never had a goal.
Then I thought, "Oh well, lets convert the 3dsmax things I have into the UE4 to see how far I can go!"

My special updated version of the "LSA Project" has the goal to revisit some of the places in Year One we couldn't access.
(i.e. the Festival behind the tent or locations only seen in the concept art)
There are no gameplay elements added yet, though I have some ideas in my mind.
Though there are some actions you can do for now, like using the elevator :D

If anyone is interested in the assets or any files, I would love to share them freely under CC. UE4 Files, 3d models, you name it. (as long its not under some copyright like the Salvador 3d model )
I believe sharing to recreate/rebuild or just for fun is the key for this great cause =)

Here are some shots. Some light are off cause I haven't rebuild it
