Remap Search Button to pop-up Keyboard?

Anyone have any idea on how to remap the search button to pop-up the virtual keyboard for the nightly build of ScummVM?
Running CM7 on the Nook Color, the status-bar tablet button for menu does not have a long press functionality so there is no way of invoking the keyboard...any help? :roll:

I would assume this would also cause problems with Android 3.0 devices that don't have physical buttons, unless their on-screen menu button has a long-press functionality.
