USB Mouse - how it's work?

I have tried to attach some USB mouse, none seems to work. Basically I do start the .elf (1.4.0) with the mouse attached and should I expect to control the pointer at menu, 'right? Neither a PS/2 mouse through an adapter seems to work. What I do wrong?
