Change Homescreen size or resolution?

Is there an option to change the size of the text and buttons on the main startup screen? I'm using the touchscreen-style controls (not the trackpad-style) and it's hard to select things because they're so small.

I recall on an earlier version that everything was displayed in a smaller resolution, making it easier to work with. Would it be possible to add the option to toggle the display settings if it isn't already in?

I'm using the latest version on the market btw, I think 1.40.
