Elvira1 (Ver 1.1) not found by ScummVM 1.5.0

Post by cosmospop »

PC using XP
Copied all files from floppies(4) to Elvira folder. ScummVM says it cannot find a game in the specified directory.

Tried before and after running install.exe and before/after running setup.exe.

All files in "required" list are present.

Have successfully installed Monkey Island 1&2 and Maniac Mansion

Does it report some MD5s in the console?
What does the console output say? (start scummvm from the command line and try to add)

Just to eliminate the usual reason, can you try recopying from floppy?

About 6 times so far. The game will actually run directly from XP (no ScummVM) but can't get the right screen size, sound from internal speaker only, and unreliable mouse. So I really need to get ScummVM to recognize it.

cosmospop: I'd suggest that you open this as a bug on the ScummVM bug tracker:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=br ... tid=418820

Also, I'd suggest that you try running the floppy dumped original under DOSBox, as this will likely run more correctly that using WinXP DOS emulation mode : http://www.dosbox.com/

This will also eliminate the possibility that your floppies are degraded and dumping corrupted files.

If you file a bug and we can identify your version as variant, rather than due to media/datafile corruption, I'll look at adding a detection entry for your version to the AGOS engine so this is detected.

Floppies are fine. Got it running in XP without ScummVM or DOSBox:
1. Screen size... just needed to let my monitor "autosize" for VGA
2. Mouse no longer intermittent (who knows why)
3. Fixed sound problem by using VDMS

It would still be nice to see you open a bug report about your version. It will also be good to know what language your Elvira version has.
