Lucasarts Classic Adventures(DOS Version) by Softgold

Post by oneloneknight »

Hello, I am looking for Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken etc. and found the 'Classic Adventures' box on eBay and Amazon. But a lot offers includes only the CD-Rom and no additional material.

What I need to play and is the Softgold 5 adventures or the Zehn adventures box compatibel?! I've heard there is a bug in Maniac Mansion... a close door?

Please help and thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Simon

P.S. I have installed LSL6 and MI1 which I have bought in the 90s and I can play the games without copy protection?!

I don't know the specifics, but in general ScummVM disables copy protection if the game was re-released without copy protection and we can't tell the difference from the data files. Otherwise the copy protection is left intact - even the really, really annoying ones like Future Wars or Cruise For a Corpse - with no way of disabling it.

I'm only aware of the mailbox bug. You can't sent letters in Maniac Mansion on every DOS version which has the code door protection disabled. MM in DOTT is affected too.
Fortunately, ScummVM does not have this bug.
