S60 3rd Edition

Post by traveller604 »

scummvm-060503-SymbianS60v3_all.sis

That's what I downloaded from my-symbian.com

Now it does work very well on N91. Well atleast the games I tried:

*Day of the tentacle (with speech)
*Indiana Jones 1
*Indiana Jones 2 (with speech)

However I did run into a few problems as well:

*I'm not a leftie. Would be nice if I could flip the screen :)
*The joystick click doesn't seem to work

Hi! You can..
So yet again the explaination (read the forum and wiki for lots of info)

'0'+'2' Change screen mode
'0'+'3' Flip the screen
'0'+'1' Change input mode.

To come..
'0'+'4' To stretch the screen (on high resolution devices)

And if it does n't work try tasking away and back to scummvm by pressing and holding the app key.. just select scummvm app.. and hopefully it should support non-blocking mode now.

0+3 Screen flipping works.

0+2 exits the app (nothing changes thou)

0+1 when pressed once (yeah I see why this is good for games where you have to write)
0+1 again nothing seems to work
0+1 again. back to normal. So the only complaint remaining is that joystick click doesn't work :(

But it's not so bad :D

Now maybe this thread is some place to mention experiences on S60 3rd ed.

Since my last (and then first) try of using ScummVM on my Nokia E60 I tried some other ScummVM games (all using the 2006-05-06 scummvm-only build).

So far ZAK, DOTT, Maniac, MI1+2, Indy3+4, Sam&Max, Loom (I like the music!! :D ) have been working well, all of them the German versions from the 10-adventures-pack. Tested with sound, without speech.

I use portrait scaled (twice 0+2) and both 0+1 and 0+3 work for me.

Is there a chance that we will be able to map joystick center to left click when using the mouse cursor mode? The key mapping dialog seems to ignore joystick center.

Once again, great job! Now I'm looking forward to 0+4 :D

First of all, thanks for all the great work guys!

Now, i seem to be having some problems running the latest build on my Nokia N71. As far as i know the N71 is running an ordinary release of S60v3. I am using the scummvm-060503-SymbianS60v3_all.sis build.

This is the problems i stumble upon.
During installation:
"Application not compatible with phone. Continue anyway?"
I click Yes and get
"Component 'Series60ProductID' missing. Continue anyway?"
Click OK and installation finishes.

Starting the app:
"ScummVM Fatal Errror mkdir for 'cC' failed!"
The the app crashes and i get dumped back to the menu.

Anyone got any suggestions to what might be causing this and how i can solve it?

Thanks

EDIT:
After reading around soem i found out that you have to install the app to your phones memory and not a memorycard. Sorry for bothering you guys. Keep up the good work ^^

Ahh thanks on that note. So IT works if you install it to C:\ Well.. that should be fixed in the next version. :-)

Yeah it works if you install it to the C: drive on a Nokia N71. Another one for the compability list :)

The scale on the N71 display is a 240x320 btw, so the size is not quite filling the display even when sized, but if it's going to be built in a way to scale for high-res phones then it shouldn't be a problem.

Hey guys,
I am new to the board and I have to start off with a question. I have the new Nokia E61 smartphone, with Symbian S60 v3. I downloaded the scummvm-060611-SymbianS60v3_all.sis from this site: http://anotherguest.k0.se/cvsbuilds/

ScummVM installs smoothly and it starts as planned I guess.
But it does not let itself flip into the portrait mode. At least I guess thats what it is. When pressing 0+2 scummVM just closes down like it has been posted above.

Unfortunately I can't play it like it starts so any kind of help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Kyle.

Try installing it to the C: if you have installed it on the memorycard.

I tested it on a N80 and it worked fine. Seems like other E61 users is running successfully too.

Wow. That was quick. Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try. :)

EDIT:
Hmm, that doesn't change it. If I press 0+2 to flip it 90 degrees so that it uses the whole screen scumm terminates itself.

Try doing a '0'+'4' before you do a '0'+'2'.. It might help. That will go into stretched portrait instead of normal portrait.

Hi,

I've also been trying to get ScummVM to run on my E61. It crashes each time I try 0+2. I also tried 0+4 then 0+2, but no help.

Otherwise it seems to run ok, but with this phone it really needs the portrait mode to be playable.
