Doman name for ResidualVM

Hi all,

I wanted register domain for ResidualVM, but unfornatelly residual.org and other global residual.* are allready taken.
I'm asking you for sugestions for domain name using top level .org .
Maybe wait and checks until will be free is better option, but that may never happen in few years.
So what do you think ?

I voted one...but it depends really.

How long would we have to wait for residual.org to become freely available?

Otoh residual-project.org would be a good alternative and is free to use as far as i can see

It may take years, "reseller" holds for sale, and they want $8000

so we may wait long time until will be droped or even never have chance to take it.

Personnaly I think it could be better to keep "residual" as the name of the site and change the ".org", it's could be easier to remember for a lot of (new users) people (in my mind).

keep "residual" as site seem is not possible now and in the future.

Some links need to be changed
i.e. from http://cia.vc/stats/project/residual
but i think this will come in time

You need to point forums.residualvm.org to www.residualvm.org if you want Google to consider the new URL valid. At the moment Google probably thinks it's a cheap knock-off, trying to steal your content.

A permanent 301 redirect is what's needed.

Just place the following in http://www.residualvm.org/index.php (if you have access?)

I'd also suggest making sure the TITLE tag of http://www.residualvm.org/ read "ResidualVMVM :: Home" instead of "ResidualVM :: Home". It's very difficult to find ResidualVM at the moment on Google -- you have to search for ScummVM, too.

Nice. I like that the two projects have a common naming theme to them now.

On the subject of having a common theme with ScummVM, how about this as the ResidualVM logo?

IMHO that is a bit too close to theirs, I think we'd atleast want something more 3D about it.

I agree with somaen, even if just the "VM" part is made 3D. Something as simple as making it appear as if it's being viewed from the side at an angle.
