Grim Fandango Residual Couldn't Open The Specified Directory

Post by julianarussell »

On two separate macs, we've tried opening Grim Fandango from the download link. No matter where I've tried storing the file, it won't open. The icon of the file even looks different on both of our macs, but we also get the same message. How do we get it to work?

Are you talking about the patch file (gfupd101.exe)?

If so, then you aren't supposed to open it. You are supposed to copy the gamedata from your Grim Fandango CDs (GRIMDATA-folder on both CDs) together into one folder, and place gfupd101.exe in there.

Then you download the ResidualVM-dmg, copy ResidualVM to a convenient place (typically your "Applications"-folder), start ResidualVM, click "Add Game", and select the Grim Fandango folder, then press "Start Game".
