Grim Fandango crash and disappearing saved games

Post by erik2000 »

Thanks for a great program. Been waiting years to finally play Grim.

Unfortunately, it's keep on crashing all the time. Every five minutes, or more often. Autosave is off.

It's been crashing, but i was able to start from save points. But now i'm stuck at the roof, after stealing the bird eggs. It's crashing when i'm running out of the picture on the roof.

I tried to change random stuffs in the option meny in the game, and in Residual. And i noticed that it's crashing when i'm trying to switch off 3D Hardware Acceleration.

Saved games is also disappearing on random. I have five save slots that i save on avery time. Some time all of them is there. Next time just one. Next time one of the slots changes name to "Saved Game" but without any saved content.

I'm on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.7.5 / ResidualVM 0.2.0

There ought to be a console window printing something/anything when it has "crashed"...does it "crash" anyway or just quit?

If there is a crash you should be able to catch the reason with the system crash handler or whatever kicks in under MacOS

By "switching of 3D-Acceleration", do you mean using the in-game menu to switch 3D-Accel on/off?

What language version of the game?

What model MacBook Pro? (Year, GPU, CPU etc, information you'll find in "About this Mac" mostly).

It's a late 2011 model. i7, 2,2 Ghz with a AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB GPU. Game is english.

Yes, the 3d acceleration option is in-game. I tried again now in the morning, and i actually succeed to switch it off, but it crashed when i switched it on again.

Could you use gfxCardStatus ( http://gfx.io ) to see if this problem persists when using the Intel card?
