Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Firstly, thanks for all your great work on ResidualVM - My sons and I have greatly enjoyed playing Grim Fandango.
Having played all the Monkey Islands, we now want to play number 4 and we have bought a PC version on CD to install under ResidualVM.
I followed the instructions in the documentation and did the following:
Created a folder on my hard disk.
From CD1, copied the m4b and Movies and Textures folder to that folder, and renamed the file in Textures to FullMonkeyMap1.imt
From CD2, copied the m4b and Movies and Textures folder to that folder, and renamed the file in Textures to FullMonkeyMap2.imt
I chose to merge the folders from CD2 into the ones on the hard disk folder from CD1
Where files already existed, I kept the CD1 versions and didn't overwrite
I downloaded the patch files into the folder on my hard disk
However, when I attempt to add the game to ResidualVM I get the error:
ResidualVM could not find any game in the specified directory!
Please can someone tell me what I've done wrong or missed during installation.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Can you show us what your data directory now looks like?
Also, what platform are you playing on and which version of residualvm are you using?

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Since you didn't mention the version of ResidualVM you tried to use, I must mention that EMI is not supported in the stable release (0.1.1), you need a nightly build for that.
Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Thanks for your replies.
I've installed a nightly build (23/7) and the game adds successfully.
We'll give it a go.

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
And finally, it's worth mentioning that EMI is currently not officially supported, but it _IS_ completable (see another thread in this forum for that), with the caveat that you MIGHT have to jump around a bit if the game hangs, and that a few things look weird still. Also, we still allow for breaking save game compatibility in EMI, so if you upgrade to a newer daily build your save games MIGHT not work any longer. (If that happens, we are usually able to point towards the correct debug-commands to run to jump you to the correct part of the game again though).
EDIT: Oh, and if you come across any bugs, we really appreciate it if you tell us about them.

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
We gave it a try.
On trying to Start it does a data file check and complains that local.m4b is missing but looking at the CDs I can't see any local.m4b file to copy.
We ignored this error and it just displays a blank screen in the OpenGL Renderer window.
The status windows says:
User picked target 'monkey4-win' (gameid 'monkey4')...
Looking for a plugin supporting this gameid... Grim Engine

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Ignoring an error is never good
Local.m4b is located on CD1 in Monkey4/MonkeyInstall
I was fooled by that the first time aswell...who needs Install files for ResidualVM
Have fun playing

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Thanks - couldn't see that file for looking.
It starts now.
I'll give it a go with my son later and we'll see how we get on.
We'll report back any issues.

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Hi,
I have a similar problem using a nightly build (03.09.2014) on macos with MI4 data files copied from the original mac cd's. When adding the game, the windows version is automatically selected (mac cannot be selected) and upon starting, the missing "local.m4b" warning is shown. I searched the two disks and the file is not to be found. Should you not have access to mac data files, I'd be happy to help out if possible.
Thanks / Mikael

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Ah, the Mac CDs, the thing is, local.m4b is installed by the installer (which you'd need access to MacOS 9 to run, or at the very least an installation of OS X < 10.4 with Classic installed).
BUT, we have a fix for this, ResidualVM happily reads the file from a .sit file, I _think_ this is "EFMI Installer", although the source looks for "Monkey Island 4 Installer", anyhow, you need that file too. (This is based on my german Mac discs)

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Dear ResidualVM,
I too am having trouble installing Escape from Monkey Island (EFMI).
I followed exactly the same instructions as described MikeE.
Currently I have a folder called "MONKEY_4" which contains:
files that are m4b (contained in a folder called "files.m4b")
a folder which contains the movie files called "Movies"
a folder which contains all the texture stuff called "Textures" (with renamed files as described by MikeE)
*MonkeyUpdate is in files.m4b, downloaded from here: http://demos.residualvm.org/patches/?C=D;O=A
(Through this link I downloaded the first MonkeyUpdate)
Whenever I try selecting "MONKEY_4" with the ResidualVM program it does not detect it. I presume I have not put everything in, but I did check.
I checked everything from "MonkeyData" (The folder present in both EFMI discs that is contained in a folder called "Monkey4" and "Monkey4" also contains folders "DirectX" and "MonkeyInstall") that was present in Disc 1 and Disc 2.
Based on descriptions from other people on the forum, I assumed this was all I had to do.
I am not very good with computers, so any explanations to this question should bare that in mind.
Currently using ResidualVM 0.2.1
Why is my EFMI not working?
Thanks,
HDAWG.

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Because 0.2.1 doesn't support it and not yet officially supported. If you want test EFMI, please download ResidualVM from daily unstable builds section.HDAWG wrote:Dear ResidualVM,

Re: Problem installing Monkey Island 4
Grab the latest version from our build bot (https://jenkins.teichroeb.net/job/Resid ... -debug.apk), that should support EMI
