Myst 3 Xbox data

Post by hooby3dfx »

Is it possible/has anyone ever tried to use data from the Xbox port with Residual?

Hi hooby3dfx,

Using the Xbox version datafiles with ResidualVM is work in progress. If you want to try it out, you will have to build your own version of ResidualVM from this pull request / branch:
https://github.com/residualvm/residualvm/pull/1128
The implementation is quite advanced but has not been fully tested.

If you just want to play the game, you'd better stick with the Windows / Mac version. If you want to help ResidualVM you can play the Xbox version and report any bug you find.

Oh great!

I would love to help test, maybe I can in the next couple weeks.

Any tips for extracting the game data?
Also, any plans for gamepad support?

Thanks.

Great, testing is very helpful.

The easiest way to get the data is to use a homebrew-enabled Xbox console. Just copy the files off the console's DVD drive using an FTP tool.

Adding gamepad support is useless until we have a way to remap the buttons / axises. That might come through ScummVM's keymapper improvements. However there are no plans I know of to take care of that.

Do the files/folders need to be restructured at all or will the detection work with a direct extract of the data?

I can't remember if any file juggling is required. This is how the files are on my system for the PAL version:
