Hello,
recently I got an old Mac Mini G4 with Mac OS X 10.2.8.
I don't want to update the OS because I need to run some Classic (MacOS 9) software and Rosetta is not really good in newer MacOS versions.
So I was wondering what's the latest ScummVM version to run in Mac OS X 10.2? Do you know where can I get a build?
Thanks!
Mac PPC build for 10.2 ?

Re: Mac PPC build for 10.2 ?
I'm not able to test this, as my G4 has 10.4.11 installed (and 8.6 and 9.2.2).
However, what I can piece together from other forum posts and bug reports is this:
0.8.2 does work (viewtopic.php?t=1276)
0.9-0.11.1 should/might work
0.12-1.5 probably not
1.6 doesn't (https://www.scummvm.org/downloads/)
Fortunately, all versions are available for testing. I'd probably suggest starting with 0.9 and working your way up.

Hi,
Current OSX PPC maintainer here.
(Sorry I'm seeing this thread one year late. We don't necessarily look at the forums as much as we used to, now that much of the community activity has moved on to Discord. Anyway, still replying here, in case someone else searches for this as well.)
Basically, since ScummVM 2.6.0, a C++11 environment is required. There's no easy way to add one before OSX 10.4, so it's almost certain that no new release of ScummVM will ever be made for Panther and earlier OSX releases.
In theory, ScummVM 2.5.0—2.5.1 could probably be rebuilt to run on OSX 10.2 or 10.3, I guess. The wiki has some old notes for that. But that would require time, motivation, and (ideally) developer access to a 10.2/10.3 system. I do have a B&W G3 that could probably run them, but I don't have much interest in setting that up, for now.
If someone wants to lend me an OSX 10.2/10.3 laptop (with a reliable-enough hard drive, and a reasonable amount of RAM for doing a native build), I could maybe work on doing a "last" 10.2 or 10.3 build of ScummVM 2.5.x there. Not the latest ScummVM release, but a late-2021 one, that would be pretty good for a 2002 operating system
Otherwise, I agree with TrivialBalderdash recommendations. ScummVM 1.6.0 for OSX PPC (download) has been reported to work on OSX 10.3 (maybe a newer version also works there, I don't know). For 10.2, yeah, you have to try older releases until you find one that really works. Reporting back which "newest" release works on 10.2 could be helpful, we could document it, then.
Looking at some old notes on the wiki, it's possible (but not guaranteed) that some ScummVM releases between 2007 and 2009 (that is, between ScummVM 0.10.0 and 0.13.1) may have worked on OSX 10.2. So that's maybe a place to start; then see how far you can go, before figuring out what really is the last release working on 10.2.
And, well, for OSX 10.4/10.5, up-to-date releases are still being made.
