In addition to its standard questions, the gargoyle is also supposed to ask you two possible trivia questions from traditional geeky pop culture: "What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?" and "What is average velocity of an unladen swallow?" (The correct answers, of course, are "42" and "A European swallow or an African swallow?")
In any case, does anyone know how to get these questions to trigger? I've traveled up the mountain about 30 times now, but the gargoyle never asks these questions.

Okay, I can now answer my own question, with help from a Google search i did:
Those two questions, plus two nonsensical ones ("Is this a yes or no question?" and "Is it further to Shapeir, or by camel?") are reserved for if you get on Erasmus's bad side by trying to attack him. The gargoyle will thereafter ask one of those for your third question. (The answers to the two nonsensical ones, btw, are "maybe" and "yes," respectively.)
