AGI - Improved Color Palette?
I just compiled a copy for my mac from last night's source. I'd swear that the colors look better in each AGI game I've checked out. I know these weren't exactly Picasso's to begin with so I just want to check . . . am I losing my mind?
"I'd swear that the colors look better in each AGI game" -- compared to what? An older ScummVM version? Then just get one and compare. Or maybe compared to the original game executables?
Anyway, AFAIK there were no palette related changes in the recent past (in fact, I am not aware of any at all, though I am not 100% sure on this one). So, it's somewhat unlikely that you really get a change there... Even the scalers shouldn't make much of a difference. Very strange :/
(BTW, I took the liberty of fixing the spelling in the subject line of your post, hope you don't mind.)

I don't mind! Thanks for the response. The difference is between this compile and one from early February. I've since deleted that version. I don't think its a scaler issue since I usually AGI without any scalers. Anyway, it's a pleasant change, even if its just another side-effect of the lead in my morning cup of coffee.

At least on the first two King's Quest adventures there was an inofficial palette patch to get rid of the yellow skin color (Simpsons anyone?)
Back then it was made for the Amiga executable and nothing else was changed than the color of the skin...later, i think it was Space Quest or Larry there were another fix to get rid of the overlay reddish (American natives anyone?) skin.
Both of them worked great, though it was a patch to the exe and i don't know the AGI data files well enough to get started digging around there.
Would it be possible to "workaround" so the colors can be changed to "normal"?
I know that it would (if it even happen at all) be very low priority.
(Maybe never due to the fact that the games should stay original)
Still, anyone fancy that idea?

Actually, there was a change about a month ago. We used to always default to using the Amiga palette. I changed it so that we use the Amiga palette for Amiga versions and the EGA palette for other versions.fingolfin wrote: Anyway, AFAIK there were no palette related changes in the recent past (in fact, I am not aware of any at all, though I am not 100% sure on this one). You can override this default by changing the Render mode setting to EGA or Amiga.
