You think RTS and ScummVM don't fit together? Of course they do! As you know, we have support for The Legend of Kyrandia for some time now. Now, after some work, we have parts of Dune 2 working with extensions to our Kyrandia code. However, there are only a few things working correctly. At least the introduction sequence works like a charm by now (check the screenshots).
Also the mentat is basically working, although it misses some animation sequences. Last but not least, the only in-game support we have so far is map loading, but there are some other things that you can't see on screenshots now. So stay tuned and wait for the first RTS supported by ScummVM!
As the code is still a work in progress, it has not been committed yet. But, look for it within the next couple of days when LordHoto has a bit more working.
Ok, so we all know this is an April Fool's joke. But, truthfully, Dune 2 does share several of the resources of the Kyrandia games. Furthermore, parts of the screenshots seen here were extracted using a Kyrandia tool (as LordHoto says). This still doesn't mean support will be added though.

Cool news! This actually means that there will be support for the games in the C&C series right? The basic code shouldn't be very different from Dune! Just some changes here and there
When will you add support for other cool games, like Lands of Lore, EOB and Ultima? Fallout 1 and 2 would be also great. Fallout Tactics looks more complex though I'd also like to see Crusader: No Remorse and Crusader: No Regret cause they're point'n'click adventure games too (although they do have a bit of shooting and blood'n'gore but they're as old as, say, Sam'n'Max so it shouldn't be hard to add them).
Also, when are we going to see 3D games added? Running Lula 3D on ScummVM would be very cool indeed. And why don't you add the X-Wing games too? They're made by Lucasarts, so they can't be that different from Sam'n'Max and the other games that Lucasarts made. I mean, it's the same company, so the code should be ultimately very similar among all of their games
The possibilities are endless... I'm guessing this is only the beginning of a multitude of cool games to be added in ScummVM! Well done, great work!

One step at a time. C&C will be added next (according to LordHoto), but be patient -- he is still working on Dune II.md5 wrote:Cool news! Well Dune 2 uses same graphics, movie, sound, voice and script format, the 'only' difference is the logic and mission/ai scripts/files.nabla wrote:Only lame games. I want an EGOSHOOTER. And you almost implemented the engine. Take eg MI and Unreal. Both games use the mouse and both have a crosshair, so you are almost finished. :P
