Sam and Max Unknown MD5

Post by somnolentsurfer »

Hi,

I've just bought a LucasArts Classics version of Sam and Max at Virgin in town and am receiving the following error:
Looking for samnmax
Trying to start game 'Sam & Max Hit the Road'
Unknown MD5 (ddc236111432e3b077280978228844f3)! If this is an official version of the game (and not e.g. a fan made translation), please report the details (language, platform, etc.) of this game to the ScummVM team
Bad ID AB383F42('½8?B') found in index file directory!!
I'm running 0.9.1 on Windows 2000, British English. Presumably the game is British English also, as it appears to be distributed by Activision UK.

What does this mean? Any idea what's causing it?

Cheers,
James

This error (and especially the "bad id" one) seems to be caused by corrupt datafiles. Try cleaning the CD and copying the files to your hard drive. If you have done it, copy them again. To my knowledge, this version of Sam'n'Max should be playable with ScummVM (according to the reviews in the relevant Amazon page anyway)

Most of those comments are about a version with DOTT included, which this one doesn't have.

But thanks. I've tried it again on aother computer with the Mac OS X version, and that loaded up and ran fine, I'll try it again on Windows tomorrow.
