Touche problem

Post by doc labyrinth »

I have Touche installed on my computer (G5 mac) and my father's computer (Intel mac). It was working fine on both computers, untill scumm stopped recognizing it on the intel mac. I'd click the game to start and the screen would just blink. so, i tried reinstalling it, and no Scumm doesn't recognize any game files! Meanwhile, it is still working fine on my computer. Anybody have any ideas?

Just to rule out the simplest explanation, which version of ScummVM is it that doesn't recognize the game files? (Support for Touché was added in 0.10.0, so it's a fairly recent addition.)

its the newest version of scumm. 0.10 i believe. the thing is, it recognized the files at first, but after a little while it just...stopped. its the weirdest thing.

That sounds strange. Are you sure the game files are accessible? (i.e perhaps it's a permission problem, or the files themselves are no longer there - perhaps they were on a CD-ROM or something?) Try removing ScummVM's INI file (look in the README file to check where it's placed in your system)

i fixed it, kind of. i downloaded the 0.11 svn and it works on that. i guess version 0.10 is still a little picky when it comes to touche.

You do realize that you're asking about a game that - at least in my experience - isn't all that common, right? Anyway, what happens if you put all the data files in the same folder, rather than having touche.dat in a sub-folder?

Have you set up the save game path in ScummVM's options? Consult the README

Speech?

Post by tidanlikida »

Hmmm...I've recently started playing this and noticed you can have speech on it, but I was wondering how you get that to work. Since people usually ask for files in the directory, here's what I have in the folder...

DMA.CFG
DOS4GW.EXE
SETUP.EXE
TOUCHE.0
TOUCHE.EXE
TOUCHE.DAT
_TOUCHE.EXE
