ScummVM does not support Quest for Glory IV, as it uses the SCI engine, and there's already the FreeSCI project working on that.

However, I don't know how far they've gotten. From what I understand, there were five major revisions of SCI and I've only heard of FreeSCI supporting the first two so far. (Details are a bit sketchy, so I could very well be wrong about that.) Quest for Glory IV apparently uses the fourth one.

I doubt that QfG4 will ever be supported by FreeSCI, but it does run very nicely and easily in DOSBox.

Considering the number of bugs QFG4 has, I doubt one can ever run it 'nicely' on any system.

I guess you haven't heard: Script code patches for Sierra SCI games.

The floppy version was buggy, but the CD version had most of the non speed bugs fixed. The NewRisingSun patches fixes the speed bugs, even the infamous Error 52. Besides, with DOSBox the speed bugs are not a factor. DOSBox+the NewRisingSun patches makes for very smooth game play.

Makes me wonder whether one could modify FreeSCI to automatically apply these patches. Like we workaround script bugs in the original games in ScummVM.

The games that FreeSCI can open have very few bugs and no timer bugs that I am aware of. There are, of course, more timer bugs than NewRisingSun has fixed, such as the firecracker bug in KQ7, but he has been a real blessing to Sierra fans with what he has fixed.

Oooooohhhh. Thanks for the link, I haven't heard of those patches. Maybe I'll even get to finish this game after all these years of beating my head against a brick wall.
