Nippon Safes Inc. HELP!

I'm completely stuck in this game, not because of any puzzle, but because of gameplay reasons.

First of all, I've only managed to enter correct codes for Doug and Dino, but not for Fatale. Could someone either give me a working Fatale code or explain how the system works?

Second, how do you use an item in your inventory on another? I've read the manual and it says to select the first item, put the cursor on the character, hold the right mouse button and then select the second item. Doesn't work for me.
