Hey all!
I have the CD version of Monkey Island called Monkey Island Madness.
This version has Monkey Island 1, 2 and a demo of 3.
( But most of you probably already know that =P )
Im having trouble with the audio of monkey island 1. The sound FX work great like when opening a door, but theres no music.
Monkey Island 2 works great! I Just dragged the folder that was on the CD, which is the same thing I did for monkey island 1. I read the other post and people were using CDEX to convert audio tracks but CDEX doesn't find any audio tracks on my CD.
Im not sure what else to try. Any help would be amazing as these games are one of my all time favorites. Thanks!

Hello and welcome
You need to rip the game's CD audio tracks to MP3/OGG/FLAC.
There are a lot of posts on this subject, search the forums. For example:

He did say CDEX couldn't find any audio tracks, though. I have no idea why. I don't have this particular set myself, but if it's anything like the Monkey Island Bounty Pack, it should include a CD with Monkey Island 1 and 2, and a bunch of CD audio tracks.md5 wrote: There are a lot of posts on this subject, search the forums.
I've heard rumors about CDs where the audio tracks are missing, but I don't know which version that is.
Thanks for the help but my problem is that my CD has no audio tracks! I don't understand why...
I guess im going to have to find another CD somewhere. Just seems strange to me that my retail copy doesn't play music.
Thanks guys.

Just to clarify, the MP3 files on the Mix'n'Mojo site aren't the audio tracks from the Monkey Island CD; they're conversions from MIDI (right?) made by enthusiasts. I'm sure they're great though. For other fan-made music, I can recommend the music by "Thomas from Sweden" found on this page http://www.worldofmi.com/features/fan/music/Warsong wrote:For anybody who is having the same problem, go here:

I think they are the actual audio tracks from the soundtrack. The only ones Lucas-Arts asked him to remove were the ones from Star Wars. I don't think they would have asked him to remove fan made ones. Either way, I'm not sure and if they are converted from the midis, they sound perfectly like the ones from the original cd. =)
Well, you could be right. I was basing my theory on the fact that it says "MP3 files by HighLand Productions", whose FAQ is here: http://highland.mixnmojo.com/faq.shtml It looks like a custom job to me. But I'm sure that, as you say, it will sound the same anyway.Warsong wrote:I think they are the actual audio tracks from the soundtrack. The audio's not exactly hidden. It's just a case of having the right tool to see them.
As well as CDex another good tool for the job is EAC Exact Audio Copy (free).
They both work the same. If you have more than one optical drive (physical or virtual) you need to use the drop-down box to select the drive with the Monkey disc in it.
