Afew noob questions if you dont mind...

Post by tarisian »

Hi there, just afew questions for an uneducated mind would really appreciate your help played the Monkey Island series again on Scumm VM and loved it so thought Id try some of my other childhood faves. Please bare with me I have searched these things and either didn't find what I wad looking for or didn't understand im quite slow so don't bite my head off please!

1: I'm trying to play a PC copy (not the sellout version) of Broken Sword 2 on my mac. Ive downloaded the cut scenes folder and tried to replace it with the one and on the CD but it wouldnt allow me, I then tried editing it in Scumm VM and putting the folder as the the extra as the extra path still didnt work.

2: I know it wasnt made in Scumm but just on the chance anyone knows, will Grim fandango ever be playable on a mac.

3: In the near future does it look likely theres ever going to be a 360 port?

Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you tried. The way I've arranged my Broken Sword 2 files, it looks something like this:

Code: Select all

sword2
|-- video
| |-- carib.dxa
| |-- carib.ogg
| |-- ...
| |-- stone3.dxa
| `-- stone3.ogg
|-- carib1.clu
|-- carib2.clu
|-- ...
|-- text.clu
`-- warehous.clu
I didn't want to type every single file name, so I've shortened the list, of course. And I probably (I don't remember) re-encoded the cutscenes myself, rather than downloading them, so it's possible that the ones you have are named slightly differently. The .ogg files are the sound from the cutscenes, and ScummVM supports a few different formats for compressed sound

There is the Residual sub-project, but it's not very playable, and it's suffering from a lack of developers.

Xbox 360? I thought I read somewhere that the official development tools for that would pretty much require ScummVM to be rewritten in C#, and everyone agrees that this would be utter madness. Well... almost, everyone. Someone did start such a project project, but it appears to have been inactive for the past 17 months.

I don't know if things have changed since then.
